inspired by this TikTok video I saw in 2020: https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZTL6vsSCY/

Standing on the other side of the walls, I heard the sound of faint piano keys. Jumbled and imperfect until they weren’t. I barely knew of the fingers that stroked the keys. They were of the brown-haired, average girl who had walked beside me up the stairs for the past year. I had no recollection of hearing the imperfect perfection of the music she played through the walls. I always thought she was quiet and reserved.
I went to my seat in front of the vintage piano my grandfather had passed down. Taking in the pitch and tempo of her playing, I began to improvise another layer of music that filled both our rooms. Somehow, we could speak without speaking, just letting our hands do the magic work of communication. The communication that occurred through mutual energy residing between us.
I looked to my right and felt the cloudy skies begin to cry. Although our music was not sad, perfection was rare. The temperature fell outside, putting everyone and everything into a calm state.
Could this be the beginning of something new?
